Modifying your design images

Most website themes are constructed through a combination of images and colors. Once you have modified the colors to your liking, you may want to modify some of the images used in your design.

The Manage Colors tab will provide you with a list of all the images used on your current page. Here you can replace those images for other images or launch your preferred image editing software to make the necessary changes.

Launching an Image Editing Application

Beside each image listed on the Manage Colors tab is a button for launching your preffered image editing software. The application that will open is determined by what you have specified in the Dreamweaver Preferences (Edit > Preferences) under File Types / Editors, for that particular image file extension.

Note: If Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks is defined as your preffered image editing application, an icon will display for the appropriate application. If neither of these two applications are defined, an Edit icon will be displayed.

Follow these steps to modify an image while using Theme-It.

  1. Select the Edit icon for the image to edit.

Note: This icon may be different depending on what you have specified as your preffered image editor.
  2. Modify your images and save the file.
  3. Return to Dreamweaver.
  4. Choose the Refresh Image icon beside your image within Theme-It.

After selecting refresh, the image will be applied to your design.

Preview in Browser

To get a better look at a particular image, you can click the Preview button to load that image in a browser.

Note: Many images are specified to repeat in CSS. In such a case, the image may actually be much smaller or thinner than what you see in the design.

Finish

Once you have modified your design's colors and images to your satisfaction, click Finish to instantly update your webpage, and any associated CSS style sheets that were affected. If you are updating a live website, you will want to overwrite the files on your live server with the files updated by Theme-It.
